The Inspector General of Police of Ghana, Mohammed Alhassan, has warned civilians to stop bribing the Police when they find themselves on the wrong side of the law.
“As a good Citizen, you are to stop bribing the Police when the law catches up with you,” the IGP said on Tuesday at the launch of a one-year public confidence re-affirmation campaign in Accra.
The campaign is aimed at enabling the Police service the public better.
It is also meant to restore confidence in the Police Service. The project will require the rolling out of significant policing strategies.
An assessment will be carried out at the end of the campaign to realise results.
Mohammed Alhassan said it is incumbent on the public to help the Police serve them better by being proactive and providing credible information on crimes.
***Question of the day : Is it the people that harass police with bribes, or is it the police that harass people for bribes?
