Reincarnation: Do you believe in it?

Reincarnation is the religious or philosophical concept that the soul or spirit, after biological death, begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual depending on the moral quality of the previous life's actions.

Although the majority of sects within the Abrahamic religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam do not believe that individuals reincarnate, particular groups within these religions do refer to reincarnation.

Growing up in Africa two to three decades ago, I definitely believed in reincarnation and often dared to dream of the kind of life I would want to live when I reincarnated. Infact reincarnation was a common belief in my part of the world.

In recent decades, many Europeans and North Americans have developed an interest in reincarnation. Contemporary films, books, and popular songs frequently mention reincarnation.

In fact, in 2008, El cuerpo del Deseo (The Body of Desire) also known as Second Chance ,a Spanish-language telenovela produced by Telemundo and filmed in Florida was broadcast in Nigeria and captured the heart of millions. This series was about a man who comes back from the dead and discovers dark secrets about his beautiful widow. Although this one can be termed transmigration more than reincarnation. Transmigration is the passing after death of a soul into the body of a person who is not dead.

Scary things! Anyway the question is do you believe in reincarnation, and if you do, who and what would you want to be when you reincarnate?


***Haha…for me, if and when I reincarnate, I would want to be a man, a rich man, black american from the state of California, 6 ft 3 inches tall, handsome, brilliant, christian–catholic, a Harvard graduate, an engineer by qualification, and an NBA basketball player with a beautiful and God fearing wife and two sons and two daughters.
