Discrimination even in death : Flight MH370.

Legal experts are saying that the nationality of each passenger in the tragic Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370 will determine how much their relatives can receive in compensation.

Grieving relatives.

It is expected that relatives of victims from western countries would receive more payment than relatives of victims from asian countries. Under the Montreal Convention, each victim's family will be paid $176,000 and then they can seek for more damages in their home countries. A US family can get upto $10million per passenger, while a Chinese family can get as little as $1million per passenger.

In other words, they are saying that a Chinese life is of less value that an American life. Any major disparity in payouts is expected to lead to international uproar, but this is a s result of varying legal systems in different countries.

However Malaysian Airlines has said it would not consider compensation payments until what happened abroad the flight is determined.
