In Venezuela, a horrific snake bite has caused a young girl's leg to shrivel and turn completely black after the venom caused severe necrosis – the premature death of cells.
According to Instagram user juventudmedica, The 13 year old girl was bitten by a snake and the poisonous venom caused her leg tissues to die. The girl was treated with local remedies before being transferred to Carcaras for medical treatment.
Being treated with local remedies probably meant she was given antibiotics rather than anti-venom medicines, this will not have been enough to control poisoning.

Dr Arun Ghosh, a GP from Liverpool, told the Daily Mail that the girl will need her leg amputated - but she could still die from the bite.
He said the necrosis most probably led to a condition called rhabdomyolysis - which causes muscle tissue to die throughout her body.
It can result in damage to the kidneys, and coupled with low blood pressure can result in kidney failure and death.
"Snake venom is very complicated and depends on the species of snake," he added.
"But the picture shows clearly severe tissue necrosis that will need amputation, though she still may die from this due to the nature of the poison."
*Terrible.
