Nigeria not 'extremely poor': Presidency.

That Nigeria is a unique country has never been in question. Following the recent statement by the World Bank president that Nigeria is among the countries where you find the extremely poor of the world, the Nigerian Presidency has come out to deny the reports, saying that it was the enemies of Nigeria manipulating the facts to disparage the government.

The World Bank chief had said  ''two-third of the World’s extremely poor are concentrated in just five countries : India, China, Nigeria, Bangladesh and the Democratic Republic of Congo…If you add another five countries Indonesia, Pakistan, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Kenya, the total grows to 80% of the extreme poor.''

Dr Doyin Okupe the Senior Special Assistant to the Nigerian President said ''It is not correct, and it is a deliberate misrepresentation of facts meant to disparage this administration.''
