I have forgiven my parents: Actor Chidi Mokeme

Nollywood actor, Chidi Mokeme in a recent interview in Lagos reflected about his growing up, and the kind of discipline he received from his parents. He expressed worries and sadness that though the family wanted the best for him, but they didn’t use the right approach. The veteran actor started as a model, but was not able to satisfy his basic needs, and because of this, he has to think of another means of livelihood.

The actor noted that at the time he joined Nollywood, there was no money, the industry was empty as well, and thus modeling was paying better. He maintained that his parents didn’t believe in his dreams initially. It has to take the intervention of some close family members before they could appreciate his worth.

At a point in his growing up, his dad would always lock up the television and go out with the key to prevent him or any of his siblings from having access to it. So, he lives with the memories of some clips he can remember and aspires to be there someday.

According to him, the family was more interested in his education, and had to watch him on a close range, but they never knew the stuffs he was made of ‘ so now, that I am doing well, I have forgiven them’ he said.
