Elton John set to marry his long term partner.

Same sex marriage became legal in England and Wales on Saturday 29th March 2014. Some gay couples took advantage of the new laws and performed their marriage ceremonies across England and Wales.

British singer and songwriter Elton John has announced that he will marry his long term partner David Furnish.

The couple have been in a civil partnership since 2005 and are planning to have a quiet  marriage ceremony in May. Their civil partnership ceremony had 650 guests in attendance.
Elton John said 'We will do it quietly. But we will do it and it would be a joyous occasion.' The couple have two sons Zachary and Elijah born by a surrogate mother.
