A song about Nelson Mandela wins big US award.

A song about Nelson Mandela titled 'The long walk is over' has won an award in the US. The song was written and produced by Don Clark and lyricist Karl Bremer and the two of them have become the first South Africans to win the grand prize in the Great American song contest.

The song was written 10 years ago by Bremer and has been severally modified. After Mandela's last year, Bremer decided to submit it to the judging committee of the Great American song contest. They won prizes including $1,000 (R10,500), production software and industry organisation membership.
